# Customize a Checkout Page

> Edit Checkout Page content and branding, choose which Checkout fields to collect, and share a branded checkout link.

Your **Checkout Page** is the last thing a customer sees before they buy, so it is worth making it match the rest of your brand. Where you edit it depends on which checkout the Offer uses: Enhanced Checkout Offers open in the builder, and legacy Offers open in the **Customize checkout** panel.

A few settings that shape the checkout are not in either editor. Checkout fields, payment options, and where customers land after buying all live on the Offer itself.

  *Customize a Checkout Page using Cofounder!* [Open Cofounder](https://app.kajabi.com/admin/last_site/offers?auto-open=cofounder) or the **diamond icon** in the top right of your Kajabi Dashboard, copy and paste the prompt below in the text box, and hit Enter.<br />[Learn more about Cofounder.](/articles/cofounder/cofounder-overview)

  ```text wrap theme={null}
  Set up the Checkout Page for [my Offer] — walk me through the layout and which fields to show.
  ```
</Card>

You can also ask Cofounder to:

* `Add a testimonial to the Checkout Page for [my Offer] to build trust before someone buys.`
* `Set where customers land after they buy [my Offer] and explain the options.`

## Before you begin

* Create the Offer you want to customize. [Learn how to create an Offer](/articles/sales/offers/create-an-offer).
* Check which checkout the Offer uses, because the steps differ. You will find it on the Offer's **Settings** tab under **Checkout template**.
* Offers sold through a partner platform cannot be edited in Kajabi, so their Checkout Pages cannot be customized either.

## Identify which checkout an Offer uses

1. From your Dashboard, go to **Sales > Pricing**.
2. Select the Offer you want to examine.
3. Open the **Settings** tab and find **Checkout template**.

If the active template is **Legacy**, shown as **Static checkout page**, the Offer uses legacy checkout. Any other active template means the Offer uses Enhanced Checkout.

## Customize an Enhanced Checkout Page

**Enhanced Checkout Pages** are built from theme sections, so you add, remove, and reorder sections rather than filling in a fixed set of fields.

1. From your Dashboard, go to **Sales > Pricing**.

2. Select the Offer you want to customize.

3. Click **Edit checkout** to open the builder.

   <img src="https://mintcdn.com/kajabi-support/z7B4POQ0COHuzsTc/images/Checkout_Editor_Button.png?fit=max&auto=format&n=z7B4POQ0COHuzsTc&q=85&s=57aad99a1123d01f66db65ec672d0e13" alt="Edit checkout button" width="1904" height="1027" data-path="images/Checkout_Editor_Button.png" />

4. Use the **Sections** tab to add, reorder, or hide sections. The **Checkout** section is the form itself, and **Header** and **Footer** wrap around it.

5. Use the **Settings** tab for the settings that apply to the whole template.

6. Save your changes in the builder.

For more information on what Enhanced Checkout adds over the legacy template, including checkout blocks you can place on any page, see [Enhanced Checkout overview](/articles/sales/checkout/enhanced-checkout-overview).

## Customize a legacy Checkout Page

1. From your Dashboard, go to **Sales > Pricing**.
2. Select the Offer you want to customize.
3. Click **Edit checkout** to open the **Customize checkout** panel.
4. In **Page content**, set the text and media customers see:
   * **Offer title**: A short, descriptive title for the Offer
   * **Checkout description**: What the customer is buying, with rich text formatting
   * **Video**: Click **Add Video** to upload a video or choose one you have already uploaded
   * **Hero image**
   * **Testimonials**: Click **Add a testimonial**, then fill in **Author** and **Quote**
5. In **Design**, turn on **Enable banner** to show a **Banner image**, adjust **Banner image height**, and add your **Logo**.
6. In **Additional settings**, choose a **Mobile layout**: **Checkout form on top** or **Checkout form on bottom.**
7. Click **Save**.

Use **Preview** in the top bar to see the page the way a customer will, and **Get Link** to copy its URL. The legacy panel has no color or font controls, because checkout pages take those from your site branding.

## Collect information at checkout

Checkout fields live on the Offer rather than in either checkout editor.

1. From your Dashboard, go to **Sales > Pricing**.
2. Select the Offer you want to customize.
3. Open the **Settings** tab and find **Checkout fields**.
4. Select the information to collect: **Name**, **Phone number**, **Address**, or **Tax ID**.
5. To collect anything else, click **Add custom field** and choose one of your site's existing fields.
6. Drag the fields into the order you want them to appear in.
7. Click **Save**.

An email address is always collected and has no setting to turn off, and payment details always appear. If you collect sales tax on the Offer, **Address** is required and cannot be cleared.

Custom fields are created once for your whole site under **Settings > Form settings**, then added to individual Offers. Each field has a **Title**, a **Type**, and a **Make this field required** setting, and a **Select Box** field also takes a list of **Choices** with one per line. Available types are Text, Text Area, Email, Phone, Mobile Phone, Checkbox, Select Box, Radio Buttons, and Country. There is no placeholder text setting. [Learn more about customizing checkout fields](/articles/sales/offers/how-to-customize-your-checkout-fields).

<Note>
  **Note:** Your site can hold up to 150 custom fields with 100 active at a time. Some plans are limited to 75 custom fields with 50 active.
</Note>

Clearing a field on an Offer stops collecting it and leaves everything you have already gathered untouched. Deleting the field itself from your site is a different action.

<Warning>
  **Warning:** Deleting a custom field erases the answers it collected from your contacts, your form submissions, and past purchases. This cannot be undone.
</Warning>

## Coupon codes on the Checkout Page

The coupon field appears on your Checkout Page on its own. There is no toggle for it in Offer settings or in either checkout editor.

It appears when any of these is true:

* An active coupon is attached to the Offer.
* Your site has an active coupon set to apply to all Offers, even when nothing is attached to this Offer.
* The Offer is enabled for affiliates, and your site has affiliate coupon codes turned on.

It stays hidden on free Offers and on free pay-what-you-want Offers, and invoice checkouts never include it. [Learn how to create a Coupon](/articles/sales/coupons/how-to-create-a-coupon).

## Choose where customers land after purchase

1. From your Dashboard, go to **Sales > Pricing**.
2. Select the Offer you want to customize, which opens the **Details** tab.
3. Find **Post-purchase** and choose one option:
   * **Member's Product Library**: Sends customers to the products they now own
   * **Custom Thank You Page**: Write your own message in the **Body** field
   * **Existing Landing Page**: Choose a Landing Page you have already built
4. Click **Save**.

You can only send customers to a Landing Page that already exists in Kajabi, so there is no field for an external URL. With **Existing Landing Page** selected, you can also turn on **Skip account creation page** so new customers go straight there.

## Customize the Checkout Page link

A Kajabi checkout link looks like this:`https://yoursite.com/offers/xY7bQ2mn/checkout` <br /><br />Kajabi generates the `xY7bQ2mn` part as a random eight-character code for each Offer, and there is no setting to rename it. What you can change is the domain it sits on and the page the checkout appears on.

### Use your own domain

Connect a custom domain, and your checkout will run on it. Customers will see `https://yourbrand.com/offers/xY7bQ2mn/checkout` instead of your Kajabi subdomain. [Learn how to connect a custom domain](/articles/website/domains/connect-a-custom-domain).

### Put a checkout on a page you name

Add a checkout block to a Landing Page or a Website Page, then set that page's URL yourself. This gets you closest to a fully custom checkout link, because you choose the whole path. [Learn more about Enhanced Checkout](/articles/sales/checkout/enhanced-checkout-overview).

### Open checkout in a popup

Trigger a popup checkout from a button or link on any page. The customer never leaves the page, so the URL they see stays your own. [Learn about popup checkout](/articles/sales/checkout/popup-checkout).

### Shorten a checkout link

When you need something short enough to say out loud or to fit a character limit, a URL shortener such as Bitly gives you a custom back half.

1. Copy your Offer's checkout link from Kajabi. [Learn how to copy a Checkout Page link](/articles/sales/checkout/how-to-copy-your-checkout-page-link).
2. Go to [Bitly](https://bitly.com) and create a free account.
3. Paste the checkout link and customize the back half of the link.
4. Save and share your shortened link.

<div className="w-full aspect-video">
  <iframe src="https://fast.wistia.net/embed/iframe/t86c42gdzb" allow="autoplay; fullscreen" allowFullScreen className="w-full h-full" />
</div>

<Note>
  **Note:** Kajabi still counts clicks on a shortened link in your email reports, but records them against the shortened URL rather than your checkout link, so several shortened links are hard to tell apart. Shortener links also count as one signal in Kajabi's spam and phishing checks, so use your full checkout link in broadcasts where you can.
</Note>

## FAQs

### Why can't I change the colors on my Checkout Page?

Checkout Pages take their fonts and colors from your site branding rather than from per-Offer settings. Change them under **Settings > Branding**, where the options are **Brand color**, **Accent color**, **Headings**, and **Paragraphs**.

### Can I rename the labels on the checkout form?

Yes, for your whole site at once. Use the **Language overrides** tab under **Settings > Checkout** to replace the default labels. [Learn how to customize checkout text with Language overrides](/articles/sales/checkout/customize-checkout-text-with-language-overrides).
